Bio-based plastic production share in Europe 2022, by type

In 2022, about 400,000 metric tons of bio-based plastics were produced in Europe (EU27 + 3). Of the bio-based plastics produced that year, bio-based polypropylene was the most widely manufactured, recording a share of 24 percent of the market that year. Polyethylene and starch-containing polymer compounds followed, each accounting for an 18 percent share of the market.
