Uusimaa, the region where Helsinki is located, had the largest amount of new electric vehicle registrations in Finland in 2023. Nearly 25,800 electric cars were sold in the region that year, compared to some 3,900 in Southwest Finland, the second region in the ranking. Battery-electric vehicles were more popular across regions than their plug-in hybrid electric counterparts. For example, over six in 10 EVs registered for the first time in Uusimaa were BEVs.
