Between January and September 2023, 41 percent of German tourists visited Israel for the purpose of touring and sightseeing. This was the most common reason for visiting the country among Germans. A holiday in Israel was the second most common reason, which was stated by 30 percent of respondents. Interestingly, 9 percent arrived for a religious pilgrimage.

This survey is a continuation of the tourism surveys in Israel conducted since 1993. The survey was not carried out in the last quarter of 2023.
