In 2024, the Porsche Taycan had one of the highest charging capacities of all electric cars available in Germany, with an average charging capacity of 274.9 kilowatts (performance battery Plus). In addition to the Taycan, the average charging power of the Audi e-tron GT was also very high in comparison, at 221 kilowatts.
The average charging power is an important comparative value for determining the charging speed of electric cars. As a rule, manufacturers only specify the maximum charging power, which can only be maintained over short periods of time. The overall charging performance is therefore strongly influenced by the outside temperature and the “state of charge” (battery level), among other things. For example, the Audi e-tron GT quattro can charge up to a state of charge of around 45 percent with an output of up to 270 kilowatts. With a state of charge of around 75 percent, however, the average charging power is only around 121 kilowatts. Depending on the model, the fluctuations in charging power can be even greater.
