Between January and September 2023, an estimated one million tourists arrived in Israel for the purpose of touring and sightseeing. This was the most common reason for visiting the country among a sample of international arrivals. Visiting friends and relatives was the second most frequent purpose of visit, attracting about 657,000 tourists. In addition, the study found that approximately 600,000 tourists visited for a holiday, and over 570,000 for a religious pilgrimage.
