According to a survey from 2023, physicians in the United States worked an average of 50 hours per week. However, physicians in three specialties, critical care, general surgery, and cardiology worked on average over 55 hours a week. In comparison, the average working week of all U.S. workers amounted to 34.4 hours in 2023.
