Main barriers to choosing lesser-known travel destinations worldwide 2024, by country

According to an August 2024 global study, safety concerns were the main barriers to choosing lesser-known travel destinations, with 50 percent of respondents reporting so. That said, while two-thirds of respondents in Singapore mentioned safety concerns as the main barrier, just 30 percent of the sample in Germany said the same. Meanwhile, confidence that there would be enough to do at the destination ranked high in India and the United Arab Emirates, being considered a barrier by 52 and 44 percent of respondents, respectively.
