In 2023, the recycling volume of plastic in China amounted to 19 million metric tons, a 5.6 percent increase compared to the previous year. There are many plastic resins, but not all are suitable for reprocessing, which makes recycling more difficult and less profitable. This is the reason why, despite waste separation, the recycling rate of plastic is limited by the share of plastic resin used.
