In the Georgian parliamentary election held on October 26. 2024, the ruling Georgian Dream party received the largest share of votes, at almost 54 percent, according to preliminary results. As Georgian Dream faces criticism over leaning toward Russia, the country's pro-Western president, Salome Zurabishvili, called for public protests, refusing to accept the election's results.
The parliament of Georgia has 150 seats, which are assigned in accordance with the proportional representation system. To make it to the parliament, the parties need to receive at least five percent of the votes.
