As of 2022, Egypt imported the highest volume of cereals in Africa, at roughly 14.6 million metric tons. It was followed by Algeria and Morocco with some 11.4 million metric tons and nine million metric tons, respectively. On the other hand, the island nations of Seychelles and Sao Tome and Prinicpe registered the lowest import volume of cereals with roughly 10,000 metric tons each.
