During a July 2023 survey, 58 percent of responding adults in the United States said it was inappropriate for companies to take a stand on social and political issues. Among respondents identifying as Republicans, this share rose to 71 percent. Conversely, 47 percent of respondents identifying as Democrats deemed it appropriate for companies to take a stand on social and political issues.Â
