A 2024 survey conducted among Australians regarding consumer practices surrounding clothing disposal revealed that disposing of wearable but unwanted clothing through donation was the most popular disposal route, at around 87 percent of respondents frequently using this method. Giving clothing items to neighbors, friends, and family members was another frequently used method, as well as mending, reusing, or repurposing items.
