As of August 2024, South Africa and Egypt held the largest number of satellites in orbit in Africa, each with a total of 13. Moreover, Nigeria has launched seven stallites in total, while the count for Algeria has reached six. South Africa was the first to launch a satellite on the continent, in 1998, extending to 16 more countries by 2024.
