Plastics consumption share in Europe 2022, by sector

In 2022, an estimated 53.3 million metric tons of plastics were consumed by end users across the European Union (EU-27), Norway, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom. Packaging accounted for the largest volume of plastics use in the region, with a share of 34.7 percent. Building and construction ranked second, with a share of 23.5 percent, or 12.5 million metric tons.
