In 2022, the total harvested area of fresh cassava in Africa stood at almost 25.7 million hectares. That year, cassava recorded the highest harvested area on the continent, followed by yams with an area of about 10.3 million hectares. In addition, sweet potatoes covered close to 4.2 million hectares. Other significant crops included taro and potatoes.
