Credit cards were more likely to be used for travel in Brazil than in Mexico or several other countries in Latin America. This is according to a survey held in seven different countries across the region. Brazil stands out in the survey, as nearly seven out of 10 Brazilian respondents said they used a credit card when booking a travel arrangement in the past month. This may not be a surprise, on the one hand, as credit cards rank as Brazil's most common e-commerce payment method. When compared to the rest of the region, however, Brazil uses credit cards relatively less often for online shopping than other countries. The source does not provide a clear reason why this is, although it may have to do with the (potential lack of) availability of Pix, Brazil's payment scheme that attracted a growing number of users since its inception in November 2020.
