Get in touch with us nowIn the first quarter of 2023, there were 2.9 million temporary employees in Italy. The Italian legislation prescribes that temporary work contacts must have a maximum duration of 24 months, with an extension being possible up to 36 months in some particular cases. In 2023, one million part-time employees had a contract length of between six and eleven months. Moreover, for 600,000 workers their contact duration ranged from one year to 17 months, and for 550,000 from three to five months. Temporary work contracts up to five months are more common in the agriculture, food and tourism sectors, as many employees are hired for one specific season when employers need more manpower, especially in summer.
