Madrid and Catalonia were the Spanish regions with the highest housing shortage between 2015 and 2023. Throughout that period, there were 160,820 primary housing units added to the housing stock less than households formed in Catalonia. That negative difference reaching 185,530 in the Autonomous Community of Madrid.
