In 2023, private households in Germany spent a total of around 42.9 billion euros (in current prices) on cosmetics and personal care products. Consumer spending on cosmetics and care products has been trending upwards in the past years and reached a new high in 2023. The product group with the highest sales within personal care is hair care products, followed by skin and facial care products, as well as decorative cosmetics and fragrances.
