In 2023, the company health insurance funds (BKK) in Germany built up a deficit of around 1.13 billion euros. This was more than double compared to 2021. The total deficit of the statutory health insurance in Germany totaled at almost 5.8 billion euros in 2021, this decreased to 1.8 billion euros in 2023.
