Liquidity reserve of the health fund in Germany 2009-2023

In 2022, the liquidity reserve of the health fund totaled around 12 billion euros. This was an increase of over 50 percent compared to the previous year.

The health fund is a special fund administered by the Federal Social Security Office (BAS) into which all funds earmarked for financing health insurance are channelled. The health fund uses this income to finance the allocations to the health insurance funds.
