The majority of senior consumers in Japan never used digital shopping platforms, according to a survey conducted in November 2023. Around 59 percent of respondents aged 65 years and older stated that they had never used a digital platform to buy a product or service, or sell products. While the reach of online shopping is expanding in Japan, elderly consumers showed a low user ratio of shopping services like online retailing.
