The chemistry of global electric vehicles' battery cathodes has been shifting from the high-nickel manganese cobalt (NMC) technology to lithium iron phosphate (LFP). In 2023, approximately 40 percent of the EV battery cathode produced worldwide in terms of capacity had an LFP chemistry, up from only 25 percent two years prior.
