A survey by LocalCircles on ticketing app user experiences in India reported that 46 percent of respondents had experienced basket sneaking when purchasing movie or event tickets on platforms such as BookMyShow, PVR Cinemas, and PayTM Insider. Basket sneaking is the practice of adding non-consensual additional charges or social contributions to a transaction or online shopping cart. It was identified as one among 13 deceptive practices by the Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) that violated consumer rights.
