In 2022, the European Union produced 15.3 million metric tons of oil equivalent gross heat using natural gas. This was a notable decrease compared to the previous year and comes in the wake of that year's decade-high natural gas prices and supply constraints. Figures had net decreased by nearly seven million metric tons since 2013.
