In 2022, approximately 17 percent of the public surveyed worldwide stated they had never heard of ischemic heart disease, although it is the leading cause of death worldwide. Furthermore, around 14 percent of respondents had never heard of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) despite it being the fourth leading cause of death worldwide.
