In 2024, the highest number of cellular IoT connections were 4G, with 1.1 billion just above 5G Machine Type Connectivity (mMTC). 2027 onwards, 5G mMTC is forecasted to dominate mobile IoT connections, reaching over 1.6 billion by 2027. The overall number of connections will amount to 7.4 billion connections in 2033.
