Responding to a 2023 survey, mobile network operators expected less than a third of global cellular IoT (internet of things) connections to use traditional removable SIM cards in 2030. Operators instead expected 37 percent of connections to use eSIMs (embedded SIMs), with a further 34 percent using iSIM technology.
