As of 2023, there were over 5.7 million international scheme cards in Ghana, the majority of which were debit cards. The latter amounted to nearly 4.9 million, while the number of international scheme prepaid cards and international scheme credit cards reached around 834,500 and 54,100, respectively. Generally, international scheme cards are more popular in the country than local banks’ own proprietary cards.
