According to a survey conducted by Rakuten Insight in South Korea in 2024, around 55 percent of female and 50.4 percent of male respondents stated that they only held one subscription to a Subscription-Video-on-Demand (SVoD) or video streaming service provider, and this subscription was shared with friends or family. This was the most common way of using subscriptions, followed by paying for only one by oneself.

The survey was conducted among 1,407 female and 1,765 male respondents.
