Monthly QR code payment volume in Japan 2022-2024

In September 2024, around 987 million QR code and barcode payments were made in Japan. The majority of them were made in-store. In July 2024, the monthly number of QR code payments hit the one million mark for the first time since the introduction of the smartphone payment service.
