In 2023, a high share of investors in Italy were ready to pay a premium for investments in Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) funds. The share of respondents in Italy willing to pay a premium for sustainable investments stood at 62 percent. In contrast, France had the lowest share among selected European countries, with only 46 percent of respondents stating they would pay higher fees for ESG funds.

The survey respondents were asked the following question- "How likely is it that you would be willing to pay more in fees to invest in an ESG fund that aims to combine positive investment returns whilst promoting the ethical management of businesses and positive impacts on society and the environment?"
