The median income³ of full-time employees⁴ in manager level positions in Switzerland was 130,000 Swiss francs gross in 2023. Therefore, this was the best-earning occupational group in Switzerland, followed by academic professions, with a median income of 108,400 Swiss francs. The lowest earning professions, apart from apprentices, were jobs in unskilled labor, with median gross earnings of 62,100.

According to the source, the annual income is determined based on the amount stated by the respondent. If this amount is stated as a monthly amount, 12 monthly amounts are calculated and one or two monthly amounts are added if a 13th or 14th monthly salary is paid. If the income is stated in the form of an hourly wage, this is converted to the annual amount by multiplying it by the person's weekly working hours and by 52. For employees, the net amounts are converted into gross amounts by adding a lump sum for social security contributions, which are calculated according to the economic sector and age of the person surveyed. In the case of self-employed persons, only the AHV/IV/EO contributions are deducted from the gross amounts.
