In a 2023 online survey of journalists, around 61 percent of respondents felt that the Indian news media generally covers the opposition parties too unfavourably. In contrast, only about eight percent considered the coverage of opposition parties to be balanced and fair. Additionally, the survey also revealed that journalists perceive a significant bias or favouritism towards the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party in news coverage.
