In a 2023 survey of Indian journalists, when asked how often they felt hesitant to freely express their views on social media or stopped themselves from posting something due to the fear of being seen in a negative light by colleagues or people they know, about 39 percent of journalists reported that they were never concerned about it. In contrast, around 33 percent of respondents indicated that they were concerned about it many times.
