A global 2024 survey found that 57 percent of TikTok users paid attention to news from personalities, such as celebrities and influencers, when coming across news content on the platform. Overall, 43 percent of users reported paying attention to ordinary people when seeing news on TikTok. Just over one-third of TikTok users took notice of mainstream news outlets and journalists.
