In 2022, the share of retail sales of Rakuten Group stood at 23.6 percent, making it the leading e-commerce company in Japan. Rakuten and Amazon are the largest online marketplaces in Japan, with the operating companies occupying almost half of retail sales.
Yahoo! Shopping is the third major marketplace in Japan. The business is operated by A Holdings, a joint venture between the third-ranked SoftBank Group and the South Korean conglomerate Naver Corporation.
