In 2022, heart attack cases in South Korea resulted in medical spending of around 434.5 billion South Korean won. This represents an increase from the previous year. The number of people treated for heart attacks has been steadily rising over the past five years, alongside the associated costs. A heart attack, also known as a myocardial infarction, occurs when blood flow to one of the coronary arteries of the heart decreases or stops, causing tissue death. This disrupts and may even stop the heart from beating.
