In 2022, around 132,000 people were heart attack patients in South Korea. This represents an increase from the previous year. The number of people treated for heart attacks has been steadily rising over the past five years. A heart attack, also known as a myocardial infarction, occurs when blood flow to one of the coronary arteries of the heart decreases or stops, causing tissue death. This disrupts and may even stop the heart from beating.
