The European Championships, which were held on August 11 at Perth, Scotland, were the fourth major of the 2024 pipe band competition season. Field Marshal Montgomery won the Grade 1 competition, securing the second place from both piping adjudicators and drumming, and first for ensemble. Inveraray came in second, as they did in the UK championships in June, while Peoples Ford Boghall and Bathgate Caledonia took the top rating for the best drum corps.
Scoring at pipe band competitions is determined by placement of judges. Points are added together, and the band with the lowest total score (due to placing highest) wins.
