In 2023, the most common type of fuel used in the fleet of the members of the British Vehicle Rental and Leasing Association (BVRLA) in the United Kingdom varied based on the type of contract. Petrol and diesel cars each accounted for 29 percent of the fleet for finance lease contracts. For personal hire contracts, 60 percent of the cars were fueled by petrol, followed by 16 percent powered by diesel. Conversely, in business hire contracts, 42 percent of the vehicles were battery electric vehicles (BEV).
