According to a survey conducted in South Korea in 2024, around 81 percent of respondents stated that being able to sing well was a requirement to be considered a singer representative of the country. Other leading requirements included being recognized for their musical ability and having a good character. In the same survey, 61 percent of respondents picked K-pop phenomenon BTS as one of three singers best representing South Korea on the global stage.
