The number of teachers in Portugal has been the highest for the third cycle and secondary education, while it has been the lowest for pre-school. During the school year 2022/2023, there were 78,130 teachers for the last level of compulsory education, almost 23,000 for the second cycle of education, and 31,360 teaching professionals for the first school cycle.
