Most popular snus flavors among Swedes 2022
In 2022, the most popular snus flavor in Sweden was mint, with 43.4 percent of respondents choosing this flavor. Ginger received 0.004 percent of Swedes’ preference.
Snus is a form of smokeless Swedish tobacco that is ordinarily placed underneath the upper lip. It is shaped like a small packet that is then moistened in the mouth. Moreover, men preferred berry, citrus, traditional, and spices flavors of snus more than women. Women, on the other hand, enjoyed mint, fruit, and licorice more.
Is the consumption of snus increasing?
The Swedish snus manufacturer, Skruf snus AB, saw a continuous increase in net sales over a documented period of 10 years. In the financial year of 2023, Skruf snus had reached over two billion Swedish kronor in net sales, which was a growth from 457 million kronor from 2012. Moreover, this increase in snus sales was mirrored in various parts of the world. In the United States, manufacturer sales of snus tobacco generated about 200 million U.S. dollars in 2022. It demonstrated a growth of 102 percent in a decade.
Tobacco usage in the Nordics
Whereas the consumption of snus has increased in sales markets, smoking has decreased. The share of daily smokers in Norway has steadily declined, while the rate of daily snusers has grown. In 2023, 16 percent of users snused, while seven percent smoked. These numbers have almost been flipped since a decade ago, when there were 15 percent of consumers that smoked daily and nine percent that snused. This phenomenon is not only restricted to Norway, but there has also been a decline in smokers in Sweden. As of 2010, the share of daily smokers in Sweden amounted to 12.4 percent, and it decreased to 5.7 percent in 2022.
