In an April 2024 survey among consumers in the United States, the leading reason why consumers disliked direct mail was receiving too much mail, selected by 49 percent. Additionally, 46 percent said they believed direct mail was not as environmentally friendly as other types of advertising, and 39 percent felt that the mail they received was not relevant to their life, needs, or interests, making it feel impersonal.
