As of July 1st, 2024, some 893,055 charging points in Germany had been subsidized and were in operation. The volume of subsidized chargers in operation steadily increased since the second quarter of 2020, when it stood at under 16,100 chargers. In contrast, the volume of planned charging points which were granted government subsidies decreased substantially between 2021 and 2024.

The source provides the following supplementary information: "The number of charging stations funded and put into operation may decline if the funding is revoked (by the applicant or project sponsor responsible for managing the funding). Funding programs whose terms have already expired sometimes still contribute to the construction of new charging stations, which is why they are still available in the dashboard."
