A survey conducted in 2023 revealed that 43 percent of Austrian shoppers were discouraged from engaging in cross-border e-commerce due to fear of e-commerce fraud. Another 42 percent found customs charges to be an additional barrier. Just over a third of Austrian e-shoppers were also concerned about longer delivery time and return costs.
