During the month of March 2024, Israeli hotels accommodated over 1.8 million guest-nights. Of them, about 90 percent were Israeli guests and only 10 percent were foreign nationals. This is a stark contrast from March 2023, when 51 percent of guest-nights were occupied by foreign tourists. Since the start of the Israel-Hamas war in October 2023, foreign visitor arrivals in Israel significantly decreased. In parallel, the Israeli government has sponsored the temporary relocation of hundreds of thousands of residents of targeted border towns, to hotel accommodation around the country.
