According to a survey conducted in April 2024 in Japan, approximately 82.1 percent of respondents living in the Tohoku region expressed their belief in the likelihood of being affected by an earthquake of magnitude 5 and greater. In contrast, around 53.7 percent of the respondents who live in Chugoku believed that they were likely to encounter a significant earthquake.
