Leading reasons to follow the Olympic Games in the U.S. 2016-2024

During multiple surveys conducted between 2016 and 2024, it was found that the majority of the United States general population primarily followed events rather than athletes at the Olympic Games. However, since the 2016 Rio Olympics, there was a growing tendency to follow athletes over events, with the share of respondents growing from 17 percent to 25 percent in 2024.
